About

MELOCOTON was created by Hélène Mitjavile and Théo Laboulandine in 2011. The company is structured around two departments, Cinema and TV/New media. They are driven by a common desire to offer daring work which uses innovative approaches that break free from the patriarchal, heteronormative worldview. We strive to work with artists and partners from a range of diverse backgrounds. While Theo focuses on audiovisual and new media, Hélène specializes in cinema,
with a keen interest in international productions.

Melocoton is an active member of the SPI – Independent Producers Union, Unifrance, the PXN – Producers of Digital Experiences, the 50/50 collective for parity in the movie industry.

HÉLÈNE MITJAVILE is a Paris based producer, focused on arthouse international cinema. As a co-founder of Melocoton Films, she has produced over 20 short fictions..

Her first animation production, “Scale” by Joseph Pierce, co-produced with the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, and Belgium, premiered at Cannes’ Critics Week, and has been screened at over 180 festivals and awarded about 50 prizes worldwide – including the audience prize of Clermont Ferrand’s Lab competition and the Grand Prix at Les Arcs.

Following the production of the César nominated live action short “Tender Age” by Julien Gaspar-Oliveri, she joined forces with her business partner to produce the series THOSE WHO BLUSH by the same author. The series, made in co-production with BOX Productions (Switzerland), will be presented in competition at Séries Mania and broadcasted on Arte in October 2024.

She is currently developing live action and animation shorts and features, including Aurélien Peilloux’s live action feature debut, RESEARCHERS, and Joseph Pierce’s animation feature debut, How the Dead Live, while also sharpening her skills through workshops (Less is More by Groupe Ouest, Script expertise at La Fémis, Berlinale Talents…) and investing her time as an expert in various commissions and in political initiatives such as the Independent Producer’s Union.

She is also a member of the César Academy and of the European Film Academy.

Prior to Melocoton, she worked in production, international sales and film financing – at Natixis Coficiné and at The Coproduction Office (producer of double winner of the Palme d’Or Rüben Ostlund).
